Carbon Balanced Paper

What is Carbon Balanced Paper?

Any paper-based product can be Carbon Balanced when the estimated average emissions of European paper manufacturing has been balanced by World Land Trust (WLT) through the Carbon Balanced programme.

Only paper and paper-based substrates that originate from certified sustainably managed sources (FSC, PEFC, SFI) or recycled can be Carbon Balanced.

Contributions to the Carbon Balanced programme are used across a blend of conservation projects that either; protect land from deforestation and degradation, ensuring carbon remains locked-up within these invaluable ecosystems and their trees can continue to absorb CO2 or, reforestation projects that focus on both CO2 removal and wider conservation benefits.

Habitats are being destroyed or degraded at an unprecedented rate, releasing stored carbon into the atmosphere and contributing to between 10% and 20% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
